Wānaka winter elopement

Is there anything better than a fresh dusting of snow blanketing the towering peaks surrounding Lake Wānaka? Pair that with no wind, soft golden light, and your closest family members flying to one of these peaks to tie the knot in an intimate elopement. That’s a recipe for success! Erin and Ben are no strangers to these views, having lived in Wānaka for years. They decided a last-minute elopement was exactly what they needed to unite their families officially. With only Ben’s parents and their two beautiful boys as witnesses, it truly was a celebration to remember. This day had it all: impeccable views, top-notch company, and Lamington socks to keep the cold at bay. I have a huge soft spot for elopements—the intimacy they hold, knowing only a select few are fully present as you recite your vows and take that next step together, the freedom to choose your ceremony location whether by foot or helicopter, and the joy of doing things your way without needing to please everyone else!
