Queenstown Elopement

Grace and Clinton are engaged to be married and are planning their celebration for the coming year. They travelled to New Zealand from Melbourne to attend a friends wedding at the fabulous Rippon Vineyard in Wānaka, but before they slipped into full guest mode, they took the opportunity to have some of their own photos taken amongst the epic backdrop of Queenstown at golden hour. The weather had been all over the place in the lead up to this day, yet we were greeted with blue skies, warm sunshine and a stunning sunset in the mountains. To add to the magic of this shoot Grace told me how she loved the nostalgic feel of my film photos and jumped at the chance to trial run my new 35mm camera. It’s never a given that these old cameras are going to function correctly and without being able to check each image straight away, then it’s always a gamble. I shot mainly digital but sacrificed one roll all in the name of a trial run for summer. The scans came back from the wonderful humans at Splendid Photo in Wellington and they did not disappoint. A new workhorse for the summer ahead and some grainy goodness for Grace and Clinton to cherish for years to come.
